Joseph: Joseph grew up on the streets of Chicago surrounded by foster homes, violence, and loss. After enduring trauma, gang culture, and the death of loved ones at a young age, life eventually led him to Pacific Garden Mission, where he was introduced to the hope found in Christ. Through PGM’s Bible program, Joseph is now learning about God, finding peace, and beginning to see a new direction for his future as he discovers that no matter where you come from, God can offer a second chance.
Taking a Walk with Philemon and Darrell: Darrell came to Pacific Garden Mission because of addiction and a desire for a closer relationship with Christ. In this conversation with Philemon, Darrell shares how the New Life Discipleship Ministry has transformed his life through counseling, discipleship, and God’s Word. After placing his faith in Christ, he now hopes not only to continue growing spiritually himself, but one day to encourage and disciple younger men as well.
Larry: Larry grew up surrounded by gangs, violence, and crime in St. Louis, entering gang life at only 12 years old. After years of pain and destruction, he reached a point where he wanted something different for his life and boarded a bus to Chicago searching for a fresh start. At Pacific Garden Mission, Larry found safety, hope, and the opportunity to begin building a new future he never thought possible.
Sermon: “Not by Force, But by Faith”: In this message, we are reminded that victory does not come through our own strength or determination, but through faith and obedience to God. Looking at Joshua and the fall of Jericho, we see how God intentionally made it clear that the victory belonged to Him alone. Whether the walls in your life are addiction, fear, shame, brokenness, or overwhelming circumstances, this sermon points to the truth that God never intended for us to fight alone, and that through Christ there is hope, deliverance, and power beyond ourselves.
