If God Be for Us: A Study in Romans 8 – PGMTV episode 450

Testimonies:
Jason’s Testimony shares how a sudden, life-altering accident brought him from independence to complete reliance on others and ultimately to renewed hope. After falling from a bridge and suffering extensive injuries that left him hospitalized for months, Jason faced serious complications, inadequate care, and eventually homelessness with no safe place to recover. That crisis led him to Pacific Garden Mission, where he found compassionate care, stability, and genuine concern from staff who went far beyond meeting basic needs. As Jason continues to heal physically and prepares for additional surgeries, he reflects on how the Gospel messages and community at PGM have lifted his spirit, deepened his gratitude, and changed his heart, moving him from self-reliance to a desire to help others and trust God through an uncertain season.

Taliyah’s Testimony shares a story of resilience, independence, and growing faith during a challenging transition. After being asked to leave her parents’ home, Taliyah came to Pacific Garden Mission for the first time, determined to get her life on track. While adjusting to communal living, she continues to work, save money, seek housing, and pursue education. Through this season, Taliyah has learned to rely less on people and more on God, trusting that this difficult moment is not the end of her story, but the beginning of something new as she moves forward with faith, determination, and hope.

Sermon: ” If God Be for Us: A Study in Romans 8”: If God Be for Us: A Study in Romans 8 walks listeners through one of Scripture’s most powerful assurances: that nothing and no one can ultimately stand against a believer whose life is in Christ. Drawing from Romans 8, the sermon explains how God has already done the greater work by giving His Son, setting believers free from condemnation, adopting them as His children, and placing His Spirit within them. Through biblical examples from figures like Moses, Joseph, Esther, and Peter, the message shows how God uses circumstances not to defeat His people, but to develop, redirect, and strengthen them. Addressing guilt, fear, addiction, and past failures, the sermon reminds listeners that condemnation no longer defines those who are justified in Christ, and that God is actively for His people, even when life feels overwhelming.
