Kenny: Kenny spent more than nine years living on the streets while battling addiction, hardship, and serious health struggles. Through seasons of homelessness and pain, he never stopped hoping for a different future. At Pacific Garden Mission, Kenny found safety, support, and the opportunity to begin rebuilding his life, and today he continues moving forward in recovery with gratitude and a desire to one day help others find hope as well.
Jason: Jason came to Pacific Garden Mission after losing his job and housing, searching for stability and a place to rebuild. Having stayed at PGM before, he knew he would find more than shelter, and through his time at the Mission he experienced genuine care, spiritual growth, and a deeper appreciation for God’s Word. His story is a reminder that many people carry unseen struggles, and sometimes hope begins simply by finding people who truly care.
Herman: After unexpectedly losing his job, Herman once again found himself facing homelessness after many years of stability. Returning to Pacific Garden Mission was not something he anticipated, but through the support of friends and God’s faithfulness he found encouragement during a difficult season. As he works toward rebuilding his life, Herman is learning to trust God’s timing and believe that even in uncertainty, the Lord still has a purpose ahead.
Sermon: “Failure Is Not Final”: This message reminds us that while every person experiences failure, God’s grace is greater than our mistakes. Looking at Joshua and Israel’s defeat at Ai, we see lessons about hidden sin, spiritual complacency, and relying too heavily on our own strength, but we also discover that failure does not have to define our future. If you are weighed down by regret, guilt, or setbacks, this sermon points to the hope of second chances through the mercy and faithfulness of God.
