All Things Work Together for Good – PGMTV episode 449

Testimonies:
Marvin’s Testimony shares a story of survival, faith, and renewed perspective after years of hardship and serious injury. Originally from Mississippi and Michigan, Marvin’s life took a dramatic turn when he was caught in a shooting and struck in the back of the head, an experience that forced him to confront how little control he truly had over his life. After losing stable housing and facing ongoing health challenges, Marvin was referred to Pacific Garden Mission, where he found time to heal, reflect, and refocus on his relationship with God. Grateful to still be alive, Marvin shares how his faith has deepened, how God has repeatedly preserved his life, and how PGM has given him space to get himself together and move forward with hope and purpose.

Samantha’s Testimony shares how God used a season of housing instability, health challenges, and waiting to draw her deeper into His Word and His will. After spending more than a year moving from place to place, Samantha came to Pacific Garden Mission, believing it was God’s direction for her life. While at PGM, she rediscovered the importance of Scripture, daily devotion, and patience, learning to keep God first even in uncertainty. Through this time of spiritual renewal, Samantha found stability, healing, and eventually housing. Grateful for the care she received, she credits PGM and its supporters for helping her leave with more than she arrived with, strengthened faith, renewed hope, and a deeper love for God.

Sermon: “All Things Work Together for Good”:
All Things Work Together for Good unpacks the well-known promise of Romans 8:28 by placing it back into its full biblical context. The sermon explains that Scripture does not say all things are good, but that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Through biblical examples, including Joseph’s life and real-world illustrations, the message challenges listeners not to judge God’s work by a single painful moment, but to trust that He is painting a bigger picture behind the scenes. Acknowledging the reality of suffering, grief, and unanswered questions, the sermon points to the Holy Spirit’s role in interceding for believers and reminds us that God’s ultimate good is not just what He does for us, but what He is doing in us as He conforms us to the image of Christ.
